Let's Talk Twilight. . .

Entertainment Magazine talks Twilight:

"For Kristen Stewart, who reprises her role as Bella in Twilight: Eclipse, locking lips with costar Taylor Lautner (who plays her pal Jacob) felt odd—not just because she thinks of Lautner as a kid brother, but because Bella’s heart truly belongs to vampire hottie Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). “It felt really weird kissing someone else as Bella,” says Stewart. “I was like, ‘What the hell are you doing?’ It was a really strange experience—as it should have been.”"

io9.com talks Twilight:

Why The Twilight Hate Has Gotten Boring

"When the trailer for new Twilight movie Eclipse played at a recent fan convention in San Francisco, the crowd erupted in boos so loud the soundtrack was drowned out. That's when I realized hating Twilight had gotten boring. . .

My point is that people are hating on the movies so vocally not because they have actually watched them, evaluated them in the context of other paranormal romance narratives, and deemed them aesthetically inferior. They hate them because it's what everybody else is doing. Especially men. . .

I'm not saying people will come to cherish Twilight the way they do Star Wars. I'm just sick of hearing everybody trash Twilight for the very things they love in other stories: Impossible romance, epic battles that transcend generations, silly costumes, and growing up superpowered. Hating Twilight is just so tired, and it makes us all look like assholes. Maybe it's time to start figuring out what's cool about Twilight. . ."

An Eclipse Novella

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner
(an Eclipse novella)
by: Stephenie Meyer

There are two sides to every story...

"Fans of The Twilight Saga will be enthralled by this riveting story of Bree Tanner, a character first introduced in Eclipse, and the newborn vampire world she inhabits. In another irresistible combination of danger, mystery, and romance, Stephenie Meyer tells the devastating story of Bree and the newborn army as they prepare to close in on Bella Swan and the Cullens, following their encounter to its unforgettable conclusion."

Stephenie Meyer tells us about the latest "Twilight" book on her website:

"Surprise!

I have a new book coming out. It's called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. Well, it's more of a novella than an actual book—my version of a short story.

Actually, this has been a surprise to me, too. The reason why it's a surprise was that I never intended to publish this story as a stand-alone book. I began this story a long time ago—before Twilight was even released. Back then I was just editing Eclipse, and in the thick of my vampire world. I was thinking a lot about the newborns, imagining their side of the story, and one thing led to another. I started writing from Bree's perspective about those final days, and what it was like to be a newborn.

This story was something that I worked on off and on for a while, just for fun, in between the times I was writing or editing other Twilight novels. Later, when the concept for The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide came up, I thought that might be a good place for Bree. Her story is a nice complement to Eclipse; it explains a lot of the things that Bella never knew. So I dusted it off and finished it up for placement in the Guide.

At the same time, it came in handy for the Eclipse film. Melissa (Rosenberg, the screenwriter) had a ton of questions about what exactly was going on in Seattle, how Victoria managed things, what Riley was like, etc. I let her read what I had then, and later gave the whole thing to the director, David Slade. David asked if Xavier, Bryce, and Jodelle (Riley, Victoria, and Bree) could read it as well, so all the parties involved would end up having a really strong foundation for their characters before the cameras started rolling. I was pleased that this side of the story would make it into the film and was looking forward to including it in the Guide.

Keeping it Confidential

(Keeping it confidential: Here is Jodelle next to the bucket of waterlogged ashes that were once the pages of her copy of the Bree manuscript.)

Then I got the news: my "short story" was nearly 200 pages long when typeset. It was too long to fit into the Guide—without ending up with a tome as heavy as the Oxford English Dictionary. My publisher approached me with the idea of releasing the Bree story on its own. One of the major benefits of this plan was that it would be out before the movie, so people would get to know Bree before they saw her in the film. That made sense to me, and we decided to go ahead with it.

There was one thing I asked for: since this story had always been an extra for me, and was meant to be released with the Guide, I wanted to be able to offer it to my fans for free. You all have bought a ton of my books, and I wanted to give you this story as a gift. My publisher was awesome and embraced this idea. We still wanted to also produce a physical book with a cool cover (see below) that you can add to your set if you like, but starting at noon on June 7th until July 5th, it will also be available online at www.breetanner.com.

. . .I really hope you all enjoy this story. I had a blast writing it. I'm glad that after all this time cooling her heels in my files, Bree finally gets her chance to shine.

Thanks for all the support,

Steph"

TayTay (as I'm now referring to Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift) News. . .

E! Online reports an eXcLuSiVe:

"Taylor Swift had a special visitor last night at KIIS FM's Jingle Ball 2009 concert in downtown Los Angeles.

Yup, Mr. Taylor Lautner was in the house.

But you wouldn't have known it if you weren't backstage. Lucky for you, one of our eagle-eyed spies gave us a full report...

The New Moon star used a private entrance to enter Nokia Theatre L.A. at about 8:45 p.m., the source tells us. He came alone, the source says, and made a beeline for Swift's dressing room.

Once inside, the two definitely seemed like a couple. Lautner spent most of his time with the country pop singer, but was also spotted chatting with her mom and other members of her entourage. "Taylor's mom was constantly smiling around him," our source said.

Seems like they really wanted to keep things on the downlow because Lautner didn't pop into the audience for Swift's performance. Instead, he watched her wow the crowd from the side of the stage.

No word if Swift plans to be in New York City next weekend when Lautner makes his debut as host of Saturday Night Live. . ."

MTV Radio talks to Kristen Stewart

Kristen talk to MTV about. . .

Chris Weitz:

"Chris did a very different thing that I've never had a director do," the 19-year-old explained. "He put together a syllabus of what we were supposed to achieve and how he was going to make it easier for everyone — sort of an introduction to how he likes to work. It not only introduced the idea of collaboration but said, 'Please, everyone, love it and be invested and work hard.' It was very encouraging. It had technical aspects of [the shoot] — how he was so sorry that so much of the movie was going to be CGI stuff that we would have to react to — but that he was going to always make us aware of what we were acting with and never leave us high and dry like a lot of effects movies [do], because you don't know what you're reacting to. It was a full rundown of how he planned on making the movie. Most directors are like, 'Have you put together notes for our meeting?' and it's like, 'No. That's your job.' "

about. . . Bryce Dallas Howard:

With "New Moon" already a box office smash in its first few weeks, Kristen also turned her gaze towards next year's "Eclipse," dishing about working with Bryce Dallas Howard, who took over the role of Victoria from Rachelle Lefevre. "It was really good [working with her]," Kristen said. "Bryce is scary. She is really oddly sweet as well, so it's weird to see her switch back and forth. Victoria, for Bella, is an ever-present fear — even when Victoria isn't around, she is scared that she is coming back. Bryce is such a good actress, and it was easy to be scared of her."

and about. . . the tabloids:

"I've gotten more comfortable with it," Kristen said of the media attention. "And the whole rumor/tabloid stuff, it's so obviously false to me. Even before I became a part of it, once I was sort of the star of that, it's like a show; it's like a ridiculous show. With false realism, like a soap opera that seems real, but you're not quite sure. It doesn't bother me; I don't take it personally."

a whole new language

These days, if you're not living under a rock, you're speaking or at least understanding a whole new language: all things related to Twilight. You might recognize such words as Twilighters, Twi-Hards, or Robsten. However, people aren't stopping there... Celebrity Addictionary has a whole slew of "twilight words." Study up on these words... I have a feeling Twilanguage (i made that one up) might become more popular than Spanish. If Twilanguage becomes a class in school I would actually consider going back! :)

  • Pattzy or Robsessed:

noun, Victim of Rob Pattinson's awesomeness

  • Pattinted:

adjective, Many qualities (i.e. his gorgeous hair) that are trademarked to Robert Pattinson

  • V-section:

noun, Cesarean birth technique in which vampire fangs are used instead of the traditional scalpel

  • Pattronized:

verb, To humor one's Twilight-obsessed friends

  • Twi Lies:

noun, Stories created to convince yourself and others you do not have an addiction to Twilight.

  • Jacobite:

noun, Someone who bats for Team Jacob.

Twilight: 4 books. 5 films?

E! Online reports:

"Variety reported last night that Summit was tempted to go the "two-film route" when deciding how to bring Breaking Dawn to the big screen.

Uh, darlings, such old news, really. Summit is more than tempted. Making B.D. two movies is the game plan as of now.

The fourth flick has been in the works for a while. After ensuring that the main cast would be back for Twilight 4, Summit asked Melissa Rosenberg to pen the script for B.D. in September, to which she obviously agreed.

Once execs realized Twilight fever wasn't dying down anytime soon, they decided to swipe a move from Harry Potter: Why Not Make It Two Scripts? It's an idea that's been going back and forth over at Summit for a while.

So will the suits ever officially announce this so we can stop having to reassure all you Twi lovers that Robsten will be in it for the long haul—onscreen, too?

Says Deep Twi:

"Nothing official yet, but knowing Summit [the announcement] will be soon with the giant success of New Moon. Why would they not stretch it out and make as much money as possible from this franchise?"

As to Robsten's future in all this?

"They are so on board, still," promises another member of Team Deep Twi. "But the money has to be right. If it is, it'll happen—especially now that [Rob and Kristen] are learning better how to handle the press."

Uh, not sure I agree with that last statement. As it's the press who seem to be learning how better to handle Robsten, if you ask us.

Even though the main Twilight players only agreed to a fourth movie, they will be down for a fifth. Not just because Summit basically owns their asses and they wouldn't totally have a choice, but because it's pretty much guaranteed Robert, Kristen and Taylor Lautner will be getting a big pay raise.

Like one of our Summit insiders told us a while back, they just tell Robsten & Co. to count their millions when they get fame frustrated.

Getting New Moon director Chris Weitz back would probably be the biggest obstacle. Remember, Summit and the cast l-o-v-e-d him, and they all want him to direct again. Chris told us he'd be stupid not to do Breaking Dawn(s), but he wants to take a break from directing for a bit, and Summit wants to peddle these bad boys out as fast as possible 'cause the cast can't keep their fangs off each other.

So what do you think—good news that Rob and Kristen would be contractually bound for a few more years together? Now you can see why Summit was wary at first of their leads shacking up together. Good thing Robsten is doing better than fine! Happy stars mean more money...for everyone.

Especially the paps."

Eclipse: The Facts

Rotten Tomatoes has 5 Facts About Eclipse. . .

FACT #1: It's Darker
"The brand new poster for Eclipse (above) hints at a darker tone with its brooding storm clouds. With 30 Days of Night director David Slade at the helm, it's unsurprising. "Every movie is different because we work with a different director on each one, which I love," Taylor Lautner tells RT. "David Slade is perfect for the third film because it's darker. Eclipse was my favourite book.""

Ashley Greene says, "Eclipse will be amazing because he has made it far edgier and more dramatic. . ."

Fact #2: less "love story" and more "war"
""Eclipse isn't as intimate as Twilight or New Moon," Robert Pattinson explains to us. "We're at war, so I get to interact with more characters, not just Kristen. You'll also find out more about the other members of the Cullen family. It just feels bigger." But -- fear not, Twihards -- that isn't to say the love story is cast aside altogether. "New Moon set up a love triangle with Bella, Edward and Jacob," says Lautner. "So we explore that further in Eclipse. It's a tough situation for all of them because Bella is torn between two guys, Jacob can't get the girl that he loves and then there's Edward, with all of his issues.""

Fact #3: Werewolves = Sex Appeal
""We all know the appeal of the vampire family," says Nikki Reed, who plays vampire Rosalie. "But the werewolf boys are on a whole different level. They interact with a youthful, playful, comfortable warmth. It's very sexy. . .""

Fact #4: More Action
"
"Filming Eclipse actually changed my life," says Nikki Reed of the arduous training regime the cast had to endure. "I have never been so fit -- this is the first time in my life I have actually had a bicep. It's bizarre to compare how we look now to how we all looked in the first movie. The entire cast turned up on set for Eclipse looking super-buff."

. . .While the rest of the cast were having fun with stunts, spare a thought for poor Taylor Lautner. "Eclipse is a lot more physical for my character," he explains, "but any time I have any kind of action, I'm a wolf, so it's all done with CGI. It's a bummer.""

Fact #5: Then end is a set up for a 4th (and possibly 5th) film

"There are four books in The Twilight Saga: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. But Ashley Greene gave RT the strongest indication yet that there might be five films. "We have finished filming Eclipse and one would assume that, if New Moon does as well as Twilight, then we'll start filming Breaking Dawn next year," she says.

"The only thing is, Breaking Dawn is a very large book so it would be a really long movie. We're thinking they might decide to split it into two parts, like they did with Harry Potter. Either way, we need to get on with shooting them because, unlike Harry Potter, vampires don't age. So we all need to look the same!""
